One of the first poker variants introduced was stud. The most common stud version is the seven-card stud. For each round of stud, each player is dealt two extra cards. The winner of each hand is the player with the best five-card hand.
In the U.S., three-card brag is still a popular game. It evolved from the Primero. Each player is dealt a pair of cards and is allowed to raise, fold, or check.
The lowest possible hand is a 7-5-4-3-2 in two or more suits. The high card breaks ties if two or more players have identical cards.
