buying localized trash
buying localized trash in omnibuses on top of that
being this mad
Like a physical copies
Don't know nip
So what do you expect me to do fag? Besides, how are they "shitty" exactly? I'm genuinely curious about your undoubtedly insightful opinion on this matter.
Sure. Why not?
not even being able to read yotsuba in moon
What is the content of that fsn novel you have there?
Step up yo game, senpai
Looks like a girl room
Stop hitting on me silly boys
Entry-level but good taste
I don't really buy much manga.
But I bought the first three volumes of Pluto recently since I found them at a used book store in pristine condition for half the cover price.
My "manga series that I bought on a whim and will never bother buying the rest of" collection grows steadily. When I see something interesting in a bookstore I might buy it, but when I consider how much it would cost to actually collect it all I quickly decide to forget about it.
I have only one complete long-ish series(Eden) and that's only because it took like seven years to come out and I started buying it when I was 14.
I don't know. I never read it. It was $1 at a flea market, so I bought it. Here's the listing on Amazon. It shows a little preview of it.
That missing shelf on the top is triggering me.
Slowly but surely.
Planning on collecting Otoyome once I complete this and actually get shelves maybe.
doesn't know japanese
What are some entertaining manga out now? I don't care about the genre, it can be any type of manga as long as it's entertaining.
shitty manga adaptations of shitty sound novels
It's not much, but I'm slowly adding stuff.
Prison School and D-Frag arriving next week.
I'm seriously running out of space. At this rate I'm gonna have to give some away. Or find a bigger apartment.
27 Bleach volumes
Fuck, I know. I started buying when it was still alright, before the vizards and Mexico arc. Now I just pretend the series ended at vol.27.
Fuck this thread made me look for online manga shops in my country and it wouldn't be that expensive to finish Pluto(it's actually selling for nearly the same price I bought it used) and buy the couple volumes of NGE I'm missing.
And I should probably start buying Mushishi and Otoyomegatari if I want to see more manga I actually like being brought over... but those are expensive. And there's Girl Friends that actually gives me hope of seeing some actually good yuri manga here someday.
Fuck, just when I managed to save some money.
Just get Citrus and StoPa and whatever else Seven Seas has.
I'm not from the States, I'm talking about the local market in my country.
But hell, I started looking, and there's some interesting stuff going on. In addition to Girl Friends, Iono the Fanatics of all things got licensed, there are finally more Sheeky Forums relevant manga like Mahou Tsukai no Yome and Horimiya showing up, and for some completely insane reason one small publisher decided to do Kei Toume's Hitsuji no Uta. Also motherfucking Bradherley's Coach, but that's at least a bit less unexpected since Blade of the Immortal was one of the first longer running adult manga here if I remember correctly.
Considering I've been buying localized manga since 2002 and barely managed to fill a single shelf because of lack of interesting material, it sure is a welcome change.
being this new
being a casual
I'm away from my japanese mangos so this will have to do.
being this poor
The struggle is real
he is poor because he isn't buying trash
Kind of a crappy picture because there's barely no light in my room. Also, missing two Haruhi volumes (I lent them).
Kekkai Sensen spines don't match
Awful. I regret starting to collect them now.
Haters gonna hate.
You haven't explained once how they're trash. Or are you just regurgitating shit?
Here's mine. I have bought a few more recently, but they haven't arrived yet. I got the Speed Racer: Mach Go Go Go Box Set, and Tezuka's Barabara and Captain Ken (both volumes).
shitty original cover
not the original
It also takes way too much time for new volumes to release. Most people who buy localized manga are casuals.
Fuck off, newfag.
shitty original cover
Because fan translation are SO much better
What the fuck does this even mean?
Not the original
Wow? Really? What a non-point?
I can tell you're just regurgitating shit without coming up with any good points. Why don't you go to /v/ instead?
No way are you serious? You want everyone here to be a big nerd and buy only Japanese Manga like you? What's so wrong about being a Casual
Fuck, man, I kind of really miss TokyoPop. They had more good shit than Viz ever had, but they went under.
All of those were good points. You are just a retarded casual.
Here is your reply.
All of those were good points
Except that they aren't. Tell how fan translation are superior to something that's localized? I promise you there are just as many shitty translations from fans as there are from publishers. Also, using the fact that there localized isn't even a fucking point.
All you're doing is saying "nuh uh" over and over.
Sorry for this shit picture.
Here's fan translations:
Mostly inconsistent release schedule
Shit image quality
Cannot read in a comfy place
Can drop the project at any point
Literally 0 money to the author
Can add to collection
And here's original jap manga
Less than 500 yen per volume to the author
Even shittier paper quality
Cannot read unless japanese
They're alive in Germany, publishing To Love Ru. http://www.tokyopop.de/manga-shop/product_info.php?products_id=4140
Tell how fan translation are superior to something that's localized?
Where did I say that?
using the fact that there localized isn't even a fucking point.
I kind of really miss TokyoPop
You really miss fanfiction-tier translations?
Wow, German translations are fucking atrocious, at least from what I've seen from the previews.
I remember when my animu and mango all fit on one shelf. ...and when they fit all in one room.
Still, I like your taste. Except for Basilisk and FLCL, but there's no reason for us to be identical.
Bride Story is awesome, and so is everything else that artist has ever done. Check out the rest. Also, check out everything by the author of "What did you have for dinner yesterday?"
...yes, I'm "avuncular". I'm about to die of old age. That happens.
You...like Umineko more than Higurashi?
My collection is tiny and shit, honestly.
Even shittier paper quality
This hasn't at all been the case with manga I've imported. I think this is only true with magazines.
But importing raws cost way more than buying localized.
Eh, just get the rest of Yotsuba, Spicy Wolf and Gunslinger Girl and you're fine in my book.
I guess you can't have everything Oyasumi Punpun or good translations. http://www.tokyopop.de/manga-shop/index.php?cPath=1_884
Is it any good?
It really isn't. Japanese manga is cheap. Shipping is the only issue, but if you buy enough, it works out in the end.
Shit, I'mma play.
Do you buy manga that you haven't read before, or do you read manga online and then purchase your favorites for your own collection?
I'm debating buying the viz release of OPM, but it's hard to convince myself to spend money on something that I've already read, and can read again any time I want without paying.
3/2 apparently because I forgot about these. Stuff too big to fit on the other shelves.
I'm envious of those Umezu manga.
I think it's more that I miss going to Books-A-Million on Saturdays in middle school to play Yu-Gi-Oh!, and ending the day buying the next volume of Rave Master
depends how autistic you are.
i collect stuff so it's a given i buy manga i'm reading and to make worth my while i stop reading scans.
And actually, most of the stuff I buy I purchase digitally; my kindle's crammed.
Sold most of my English manga. Now starting fresh with pure manga.
Learning Japanese, still don't know enough to read Yotsuba. But I'm not complaining.
Considering on getting Monster: the perfect edition in English tho.
O.L. Comic; survival in the office
is a wonderful translated english collection that has both english and japanese. I recommend as many books as you can get; it's a best-of, and useful for language.
Maybe it's only the US, but at least Spain and even some South American countries like Argentina destroy Japan in paper quality of tanks.
Why is your MW upside down?
Cannot read in comfy place
Are you some still living in 2005 when smart phones and tablets weren't a thing?
I'm working on getting all of Blame! and other Nihei stuff. I also want the last four volumes of the Slayers novels, even though we'll never get any more than that.
Vertical stacking is one thing, but why did you stack them upside down?
My low-gamma sibling.
Are those dildos on your shelf? Are you a grill?
You need more Rave. That volume looks lonely.
I think I need to get an actual camera.
Those are clearly vibrators. The dark one looks like it came from the Lelo brand.
Sorry, I'm not a dildo/vibro expert.
If you're going to stack vertically it only makes sense that you word stack them so that the title on the spine is upright.
Ok. Excuse my non existent vidya taste, most of the non handheld stuff are my brother's.
Needs more JoJo.
actually spending money on Umineko
What's in the comp books?
I don't really collect manga, but I do have a doujin collection.
It'd be a hassle to take a picture of everything because a lot are debinded and what not. So I just have them cataloged here.
Which books do you mean? The ones that are above the desk?
i really though about getting doujin but couldn't figure out where to keep(hide) it.
so many titles just calling out to me
Buying any kind of ero mango means they'll be soiled day one. I don't want that.
I tend to buy manga I haven't read before. Though if I really like a manga, I may buy it anyway.
Still doing fine mostly.
More like melted of the spin with an iron, but yeah.
Pretty much everything at the bottom has been scanned by me.
I have a safe in the back of my closet for them.
I was looking at the marbled ones on the bottom shelf of your bookshelf.
This collection was built upon multiple vacations to Japan, importing, and Bookoff. And lots of disposable income.
some stuff on my bed I don't have shelf space for
there's a few hundred more volumes of manga in boxes under my bed
Uzumaki, Watamote when Sheeky Forums bought a crap pile, xxxholic, Yotsubato, and Yozakura Q.
I would love to have a huge collection, it's a shame I haven't done anything about moon after the basic hiragana.
Do the basic katakana at least. They aren't any harder than hiragana and probably easier since many are straight up the same.
Out of curiosity how are the encodes for Space Dandy and FMAB? I'm rather hesitant to buy Funimation products.
My apologies, I know the basic Katakana as well.
reading of your shitty screen
Really now ?
It's not Funimation over here,FMAB is Dybex and Space dandy is All the anime.
So I can't really tell you.
Impressive detective work
Ah, okay, just saying. That's basically all I know for now but it's not a hard point to reach.
How long did you have to study japanese to read all that?
I actually got a few in physical form, imported.
Most of them are .. well picture related.
Posting this here as well since even though physical is very nice, hoarding is best.
Are you me?
I'm always afraid one of my HDD just dies..
The thought alone scares me.
I'm always afraid one of my HDD just dies..
Same. I keep all of my anime etc. on a shitty Seagate drive that I had to use because it was cheap. I have a backup on an external WD drive, but that nearly died on me once already.
Here's my main shelves. I have another one, but it's a mess.
You know it's bound to happen better get those 4 new 6TB drives soon user.
I never realized there was a manga adaptation of this.
implying you can read any of that
The new ones
It's a start
Are you fat?
No, why would I be?
Ai Yori Aoshi
My absolute nigga.
The Drifting Classroom volume 7 is the gem of your collection.
Many people are.
You are awesome.
I didn't know D&Q had hardback versions of Tatsumi's collections...now all you're missing is Fallen Words
and Black Blizzard.
I haven't buyfagged in about 2-3 years I figure, so it's probably not changed since I last posted back then.
You can't find physical copies anywhere else.
it's brothers karamazov
are you proposing he steal them from your local library
he probably doesn't even know where that is
Which Yokoyama book should I get first?
What are the titles of the Japanese books next to Clements'?
Ok, how does everyone with a large collection keep it dusted and clean-looking (without damaging the tops of the pages & covers)?
My favorite is Garden, it's just a journey though increasingly abstract and mind bending architecture and I love that stuff.
Travel is where I started and that's also a good choice, it doesn't get as crazy and is more "quaint" I guess. It also has absolutely no words at all which you may or may not prefer. His later stuff has very basic descriptive wording like "What is this? This is a tree." ect. which some might find either helpful or distracting.
Need to flesh it out when I have more money
What the actual fuck, did they just decide to stop repriting vol. 7?
The fuck did they decide to change the design for Gantz just for those last two volumes. Absolutely disgusting.
Does a lot of manga get translated into vodka runes?
Would you get beat up on the street by guys in tracksuits if you were caught with any?
I just realized NEET people have a lot of money meanwhile normalfags have corporate slave job of low income.
Most people on Sheeky Forums have regular jobs or are at college.
american workers get to decide between paying bills (wife and kids) or buying chinese comics.
Well, manga buyers have childless lifestyles, they are productive members our capitalist society.
Are those the Squid BDs at the bottom?
guys in tracksuits
You'd be surprised how many guys in tracksuits here watch anime.
Yes, the first series.
Don't have a picture, but this is what I got so far. Going to need to get a new bookshelf soon.
20th Century Boys 1-5 (Just started buying this one, will eventually own all of it.)
Death Note box set
All 3 arcs of DRRR
Monster omnibus 1-5
Prison School 1
Vagabond omnibus 1-12
Even more jelly.
i love that shelf- where'd you find it?
From my fav anime shop in moscow i remember waramanai neko, hanagai, toradora, hetalia and wolf and spice. But it's REALY hard to get 1st volume.
They can beat you but when i was in egypt w my friend
now i don't have friends he became FRIENDS w sum guys in tracksuits. They saw tsukiko pic in mah phone and they were like "so you like anime, thats nice,we won't beat you"also i know my eng is pretty bad,sry
And whose money is that really?
Anyone know how I can get once-off stuff bound like this?
I've checked all around the place and the closest I've found involves a lot of gluing and no explanation of the process to use the product these chinese people are selling.
There's a few things I want as physical books that exist only digitally now.
If that is the english dub/piss-yellow sub, That's a horrific release and you wasted your money. (although, I only got the first two disk images)
It is quite clearly a japanese release it has the price in yen.
Why do you have a precalc AND partial diff.eq. book out?
so you like anime, thats nice,we won't beat you
that's fucking amazing
Just kill yourself
is that a target bookshelf
I tutor people with the Pre-Calc book. PDE was one of the only books I ever bought during the maths program.
Ah, that makes sense.
is that all of the volumes for vagabond?
Can someone please scan some Yokoyama? They're already OOP now which sucks. As well as any other PictureBox like Gold Pollen. I have Travel, but my scanner sucks and overseas shipping kills me.
Are you aware you're missing the last two volumes of 20CB, published as 21st Century Boys?
you will never watch a most-likely-unattractive fem/a/non masturbate with a vibrator while she reads localized manga
all TokyoPop's .hack// books
My absolute negro
aww yeah nigguh
tfw OP is the only one in the thread with Hoshi no Samidare
Good on you OP. I would post my collection if I wasn't at college with only the above mentioned manga and none of my other stuff.
Just got 7-8 this week.
I just got it for like $15 at walmart the other day since I was in need of one.
I did as well. Now we just have to wait 3 long months for the last omnibus.
implying I don't clean my shelves twice a week
I need to buy a bookshelf.
Right to left
All that shit taste
Right to left
All that shit taste
Taste is objective, post yours.
I'll give you that, I can't buy all of them at once.
Well, forgive me for not understanding fucking moonrune.
You fucking weeaboo cunt.
No one does this, Japs don't do this.
Not him, but I do this with books that were in stacks. In a stack, the first volume is on top, which when laid horizontally puts it on the right.
How's that All you need is kill? Care to share more pics of it?
All of mine are in boxes atm. And it's too late at night to at least take a picture of all the boxes.
I'd make the non-localizedfags jealous, because some of them are original Japanese tankabons. Can't read a lick of Japanese, but whatever.
My life is now complete.
They left me a bit bitter though, because a lot of good stuff was left hanging when they went under and will probably never get picked up by anyone else.
I don't BLAME! you.
or do you read manga online and then purchase your favorites for your own collection?
This, pretty much. Although sometimes I buy manga just for the art, even if the plot is shit. I draw comics as a hobby and like to have reference material at hand.
Not a huge collection but it's taking shape.
I want to replace all the french localized with Japanese volumes or at least English.
Will be buying some more when the salaries start coming again.
Remember, no localized.
I pretty much only buy mango during vacations, and at Book Off. I really want to complete Aku no Hana, Aria and Zetsubou Sensei, but I'll probably wait till next time rather than importing.
Besides that, I just buy anything that looks interesting, with a focus on things that have good art, artists I know, and/or furigana. It's 100円 a piece so at most I'm wasting space in my luggage that could've gone towards another manga.
mickie and minnie
Dear god, burn those fucking abominations!
Don't have that much, they don't really translate good stuff in my country and english releases are kind of expensive for me.
Are clear pictures also expensive?
I'm glad I found those, I wasn't expecting to suddenly see ABe's name turn up while randomly browsing.
Too bad he wasn't at comiket. I'm pretty sure he used to go, up until a few years ago.
Dorohedoro only up to volume 15
STEP IT UP
Index vol4 has shown up since picture was taken.
What language is that in? English release is only up to 16.
Just started collecting stuffs. Manga over here is so damn cheap. It's just around 1.5 bucks a pop.
Italian. Unfortunately the publisher is kinda meh, each volume costs € 6,50 and all the colored pages are in black and white, although I've heard that's just because the first tankobons to come out were like that, and they could only publish those.
How much are the English volumes?
Where do you find manga that cheap? For me the cheapest manga in english i could find was 12 bucks/ volume. I'd rather import and pay 2 more dollars than buy from here.
11 euro. They might be cheaper somewhere else, but the page I get them from does free delivery so it's a better deal overall for me. I had to colect it one volume per 1/1.5 month though. Also, only the first three volumes have colored pages.
The most casual of tastes
Needs more GA.
My humble collection.
I'd love to have the English version of Mushishi but it's outrageously expensive for even used volumes from what I could find. Which is dumb for something that's apparently popular enough to end up on netflix.
Granted, they're in local language and the english version is non-existant. Even so, The publisher company is based and have wide range of title available for sale.
I am also pleasantly surprised that they kept the color page included inside.
You should get Fragments of Horror to go along with your copies of Uzumaki and Gyo.
all these small collections
Are manga super expensive in USA or something?
I had to colect it one volume per 1/1.5 month though
I bought them as they came out, which means about 2 a year, and I was lucky because I started when the 11th volume was out, which means I saved myself hiatuses of more than a year. It was excruciating, because I didn't want to spoil it.
Added a few things since I took the picture a while back and I'm about to move furniture round. If the threads alive when I actually put it back on the shelves I'll take a decent picture.
Fun fact: The title is supposed to be BLAM! as a sound effect of gun blasting shit to oblivion.
Ehh, I don't really read a lot of manga, especially on paper.
Well, they done fucked up. Next thing you know there'll be an Attack on Titan!
Thanks. I guess it's just that most of Sheeky Forums isn't that much into manga then.
There's probably multiple factors. I myself have a substantial collection, but I've never had it all in one place and unboxed long enough to take a picture. A good chunk of it was a dollar at a local used boostore, and I got three boxes with 30 manga in each for 75$ once. Random and mostly uninteresting, but still worth it.
all those volumes of Lupin III
goddamn why do they have to be so hard to get nowadays
Because you waited too long, mate.
How are those anyways? Do they feature any different art, or are they just fucking huge?
Is it any good?
I only buy of volumes of my favorite manga. I just like to have a physical copy.
Right, there was this, too.
Buying manga, not reading for free.
Do you buy manga that you haven't read before
Sometimes, especially when there's no scans or preview chapters. It's been hit-or-miss. Rejects get sold to book off.
There is even an anime. Aoi Bungaku
those are some really nice boxes you got there bro
putting books on top of each other
May I ask for what specific reason?
I started collecting this last year, so much time after the release. In the end I had to buy some used volumes for up to 30€ per book to complete it... I even ordered some books from other countries which covers differ massively from the books that are selled in my country. Now the collection in my shelf looks like ass but I'm really proud that I have it.
Is that the novel where zombie Tidus explodes when he kicks a land mine after fucking Yuna on a beach and his head lands in her lap or some shit?
I don´t see any novel about X
This isn't even all of it, have another two 3 layer shelves on the other side of the closet and a bunch of stacks sitting in front. I haven't even bought more than 5 or 6 new volumes in the last 3-4 years.
Between the costs and lack of space its hard to justify getting more, but atleast I gave my support.
Did you complete Excel Saga yet?
You have the hard-to-get volumes already.
It's solid gold.
I honestly think someone asked me that exact question last time I posted and the answer is no. I really enjoy the series but for some reason just kind of dropped off.
Let me check if I ever bought more and consider ordering the rest.
That was one of my main reasons for quitting collecting too though. Once Tokyopop up and died with a bunch of my collections unfinished it sort of ruined the desire to buy.
It's Viz, and they pulled through all volumes.
I know Excel is viz, but I mean in general.
I had notice realized Excel ended up being so many volumes. It must have only been around 15-20 when I stopped collecting.
About to order a bunch of volumes though and fuck over my lack of space even more.
I usually read stuff online, only buy stuff with great art or dead tls.
How's that All you need is kill? Care to share more pics of it?
Somewhat late because I was asleep, but here you go.
The binding and pages feel like they're high quality.
The artstyle was good imo and I enjoyed reading it. The ending...made sense but I didn't like it that much. I can definitely recommend it though if you like scifi.
Needs more Sketchbook.
Struggled to get it all in, but here's mine. I ran out of bookshelf so I've had to start piling it up in front of it.
Mostly just big.
I take it you like Yugioh.
Do you not notice the glass doors? I've had figs in there for months without noticeable dust on them.
I actually got them all within the last year. I got lucky watching auctions on eBay and won a big bulk auction fairly cheaply. A few volumes were pretty expensive on their own though. I paid about $60 for the last volume of World's Most Wanted.
Thats actually a pretty nice shelf and cabinet. Any idea what model and make it is and where I could get one?
It's just Ikea stuff. If you don't live near one and have a way to pick it up yourself the shipping will rape your ass.
http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/S39023406/#/S49017829 (Candian version of site, dunno where you live)
If you live in a big city you can probably find people on craigslist giving away/selling for very cheap their billy bookshelves and you could just buy the doors separate.
Looks like IKEA Billy with added aluminium-framed glass doors.
Remember to get additional shelves if you're storing manga. There's also glass shelves to store figures on.
Damn, I live in Ohio and the closest Ikea its Pittsburg and about a 2-3 hour drive. My car is probably too small to fit boards that large as well.
I'd like some of their display cases and shit too. Instead I am stuck with some curio cabinets I got on craigs list and cheap shit I ordered from amazon or walmart.
They have home delivery. But you'd need to fit seven feet of flat boxes into or on top of your car.
For manga I'd specifically get one or two more shelves than included in the basic unit. If you need two Billys filled to the brim, you could get a third to salvage shelves from, save a few cents and sell the remainder on Craigslist.
Stare through ikea.com and make up your mind before ordering or driving there.
What gave that away?
Cant really get any good manga for collecting where I live, unless you like to pay shitton for shipping(2/3 of the manga price is basically shipping)
Atleast I got nearly complete yotsuba&,so thats good.
Just hunt down complete collections for cheap off Amazon Japan.
I take it hes using the Morliden doors without the backing for the smaller center seam?
Nice, this is really close to the setup I want to make. My monitor is the same as one of yours, and I'm hoping to get a second one as well as a TV sometime soon, though I'm kind of low on space since I already have an old CRT TV for gayman that I don't want to get rid of it, which takes up a ton of room.
And as I thought, two bookcases with the doors included plus 4 extra glass shelves would be $550 after $130 shipping. It is tempting but awfully expensive for Ikea quality stuff. Might as well try to find a fancy local store and get real wood.
Whatever floats your goat, bro.
As much as I wish I could read moonrunes I cant yet,so im buying localization of manga being sold here(its all mainstream shit but sometimes theres good things aswell)
But why? Does anyone actually do their first reading on the dead tree version?
I do, because I can´t stand reading printed media on a PC screen.
I have a big collection, but its in the attic until I can move to a bigger place.
I haven't bought anything in ages. Still need to buy the rest/catch up on a lot of it.
Honestly its just because I like reading physical copies instead of digital ones.
I cant really work with pc's for a long time,my eyes get all dry and red and my eyesight worsens as time goes on. I'd love to just keep on reading digital ones.
That's a tiny fucking Discworld collection. Get yourself some Rincewind and Witches books.
Eeeh, its big enough for me. After reading those books and Snuff, which is on the shelf above, I was kinda over them. Right now I'm branched out to general fiction and classic literature so yeah..
all that Rave Master
I'm just like you. The only manga serie that i have complete is Stardust Crusaders and DB. It's weird since all manga i have is in my language but because the fecking editorials refuse to bring JoJo to Spain i had to buy the Viz translation
I am so fucking mad I cannot even describe it. I started buying it in HS. I didn't read it online at all and bought the volumes as they came out. Some 8 or w/e years later I am 2-3 volumes from finishing and Tokyo Pop ups and dies. I spent something like $300 on the series to have a collection that will never be finished correctly.
I haven't even bought the final volumes from Denkigi or w/e and just read the end online.
ITT: Weaboo trash getting assmad that people's mango aren't in moonrune.
What part of Ohio? there is a an Ikea in michigan so if you are in the west/northwest that's the closest.
I can't wait till I move out to a bigger place to get one of these book shelves. I got like 3 boxes full of manga cause I got nowhere else to put em.
Needs more GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class, unless you hid them.
And the rest of Kuro and Hidamari as you have the tricky and once-tricky volumes.
You need to be rich as fuck to get every volume of Blame!
I've got GA 1-5 and Hidamari 1-7. I should check for new volumes.
You have volumes of Air Gear that I want :(
Thanks for this thread btw guys. I just posted my collection for the hell of it since I saw it on the front page and now I have some $100+ ordered with no space for it.
It's cool NNB is getting releases now though.
Anyone has experience buying from third parties in amazon JP?
I'm planing to buy a full set of Lotte no Omocha
I noticed that a lot of manga on amazon JP is pretty expensive, I would check on cdjapan first.
What did you think of 1q84
dust your shelves you filthy beast
Dusting is for the plebs. I don't dust, ever.
...I'm not that guy.
Amazon jp is cheaper than cd japan
10/10 taste right there
I almost cried reading that shit on Borders.
...Am a different dude, but having trouble parsing; you say you read that while standing in the stacks at Borders bookstore? Or something else?
I miss Borders.
The trick is search for セット (set) and look for the "Ship by Amazon" logo. I just priced the Lotte set: the one I circled is $14.5 shipped to US.
I meant what I wrote: inside a Borders bookstore. I then proceeded to buy the shit out of it despite being used goods.
I wonder how good is acceptable
Japanese standards are very high. You won't likely find any blemishes. They take good care of their books unlike amerifats.
People that read stuff in Borders/BN and don't buy deserve to die, especialy when they read it while eating chocolate cake and shit. Instead of wasting money on overpriced food buy the damn books.
I can't believe how often I went to buy a volume and found it was dirty and their last copy because of fat fuck otaku.
What kind of faggot doesn't cry reading Solanin?
I cried with punpun
Ah! Thanks for the suggestion, will do.
I never even knew Tokyopop went under until just a couple months ago. Then again, I kind of walked away from the anime and manga scene back in like, 2009/2010 and only came back this year.
Had to read up on why they disappeared, and it sounds like a big part of it was because they were trying to pull lots of artists in to publish their own comics, and fucked them over in the the contracts.
And part of it was because of financial issues linked to Borders and they both pretty much collapsed at the same time.
Those GTO spines just trigger me.
Wow. Those Deadman Wonderland volumes look good. Tokyopop Germany?
Why the hell is 80% of their stuff generic romance?
Also, going through their website, I am once again reminded that German localisations are terrible
in my opinion.
From what I heard, reason they went over is they over-extended themselves. And then then Borders bookstore chain went under, owing them a bunch of money.
The last thing I remember them doing was that ultimate otaku tour or whatever, shortly before they closed
I want to but Tokyo Ghoul manga, right now it's been published by Viz, but it's one volume every bimester. Do you recommend me buying one everytime is out or to wait till they sell the recopilation of all the volumes?
I'm guessing the manga collections of most people on Sheeky Forums look like this. That, or a bookmark to
I've been planning on getting it for a while, but cash be tight.
It hurts to look at but I needed the series.
I'ma rob your library nigga. Finally, dem edjukation progrems doing sum gud!
First you should get something worth taking a picture...
My little collection, being a neet doesn't help
What was that manga again with the gender confused demon kid?
Seeing Spica in your shelf OP, I guess it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to ask here: manga or anime?
My meager poorfag collection.
The one in the photo is Himitsu no Akuma chan, and he isn't confused about his gender

That took longer than expected
I thought this was my shelf from the thumbnail.
Thanks for buying Biscuit Hammer, user.
Here's a slightly old picture of my currently-reading collection. Still waiting to buy more shelves, so the bulk of my manga collection is still in boxes.
Aforementioned collection in boxes.
HOLY SHIT! My narutard meter is off the charts!
probably a nigger
Dat berserk collection
What do you think of the movie?
Dat berserk collection
THe one thing I hate about buying manga is if I pick up a book, read it, and then realize I probably won't want to reread this that much. Purchases like Lone Wolf and Cub or Nausicaa are great because you can go back to and enjoy those again, but a lot of other manga I've read (whether physical or online) I wouldn't necessarily buy.
Another Magi bro
Not everyone is a homosexual.
Im dumbfounded by the shit taste you have and having the "gatts" to call berserk gay. There are very few autistic shit taste ppl out there who consider berserk gay...... I guess you're one of them
buying nine billion volumes
never ever seeing an ending
Not everyone is a homosexual.
What? Berserk is edgy as shit but not gay.
Its a sense of pride but you're kinda right tbh
The only thing poopy is the partial collections.
Started in June.
i have an attic full of mango with yellowing paper, dating back to 1990.
get on my level.
implying i'm going up there, steaming hot, with bread to take a picture.
I've got the first two volumes of tokyo ghoul but they're not in the open because the anime was awful and I don't want to associate with fags who loved it
Yeah. I've only read half of the first book, but I liked it. I need to get back to it.
It really doesn't.
not buying the best localized manga out there
shitty original cover
This is not always the case and not always a bad thing.
They tend to be almost exactly the same as Japanese manga. I own imported Japanese manga. You're full of shit.
not the original
Doesn't mean a damn thing
Doesn't mean a damn thing.
Just frame it with Yotsuba and Citrus and you're good.
Most impressive, aniki.
I'm jelly of your Blame! collection
Not this June right?
it's not much but i'm kind of a slow reader anyway

You're clearly missing this.
I honestly forgot about Hidamari and alcoholism.
I have a friend with a collection that looks like that. I think he started in the late 90's, so he's got a lot of out-of-print things that are difficult to find.
You should be.
just got a job
money is piling up
Wait for me
Come at me, aniki.

Would you like it spicy oniichan?
not being mad
I don't read books which were not written in my language
That's culture if I've ever seen it.
Of course it's better to read manga in Japanese and being an elitist is good too but there's a limit.
You're right about ominibus editions though, at least if they're not the only available editions.
Not gonna post my collection again, I'll post it after I take better pics with the new phone.
Didn't they have Aria down on the boot?
So is Yotsuba any good?
Yeah, Star Comics owns it. They finished it in 2008. I didn't know tho.
Lemme get it too
he doesn't know
Aria sold so badly it was suspended for 7 years or so between vol 8 and 9.
And they printed 2 double-vloume issues (9+10, 11+12) to limit the economic loss when somebody back at StarComics took pity on it and finished the serie.
The best thing about that publisher is that they don't have a OOP concept save for new editions replacing former ones and a couple of exceptions.Aria + Aqua are one of them.
You can find them only in the "black market" of second hand stuff.
Save for lucky deals, don't expect to pay less than 100+ euros for it, and i'm probably underestimating that.
And dear god buy only if you find the whole serie in a bulk or you'll have to wander for years before completing it.
That shit is so funny, it's a shame the second season never got translated.
your favorite manga has no official english release
Just started collecting.
Go get Haganai.
your favourite serie has a release in most western countries with active manga localization industry
except yours even if it's the 2nd or 3rd market of localized manga
Waiting on Alabaster and Clockwork Apple to come in. Also
tfw had a chance to buy all Cyborg 009 volumes at RRP back in the day but didn't
Mostly comic issues in this but also The Memory of Memories and The Comics Journal issue with Tsuge Yoshiharu's 'Screw-Style'

At least we're getting something.
